I don’t care how bad the B’s looked against the Jets Thursday night. And they looked terrible from the second period on.
What matters now is how they look tonight against the hated Canadiens.
I really don’t expect the D to be much better overnight, even with Colin Miller getting his first NHL start. I don’t expect the team to suddenly start burying chances like the ’84 Oilers either.
What I do expect is this team to understand what a game vs. the Canadiens means and bring the physicality and the effort for 60 minutes tonight. There are quite a few new members of the Bruins blooding themselves in this holy-war for the first time tonight and I want to see them play with the requisite level of urgency and violence.
There aren’t a lot of people giving the Bruins a shot against the Habs tonight or in their next game against Tampa Bay. And while nobody in their right mind is calling this a “must win”, it is a “must show up” game. I want to see Belesky make a name for himself tonight and get have his name followed by French curse words on twitter. I want to see Zac Rinaldo flip the script on Dale Weise and give him a dose of what it’s like to be harassed by a rat who won’t fight. Win or lose, we need to see this team bring it tonight, because if they can’t get fired up for the Habs in their own barn, it sure doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season.
