Bruins Play Well, Lose Again

The Bruins continued their frustrating pattern of playing relatively well yet still losing. First it was Saturday night against Ottawa, losing 2-1 in OT and last night it was losing 2-1 to the NY Rangers. The Rags scored 2 goals in the 3rd to claim the victory.

It was an entertaining game, with up and down action and chances galore. The B’s missed several good opportunities, like the one in the picture above, and Brett Connolly dinging the iron on a great dangle in the 2nd.

Speaking of Connolly, here are his numbers from last night:

That’s right, a big fat bagel. Oh, and by the by Connolly was playing in place of Frank Vatrano, who was coming off a goal on Friday against the Devils and certainly didn’t warrant a night in the press box. It doesn’t seem like anyone in the Bruins media asked Claude Julien why Vatrano sat while one-goal-in-18-games Connolly played. Another case of the coach not necessarily putting his team in the best position to win a key game.

Elsewhere. Kevan Miller is …. not good. Another minus 2 last night. Yet he’ll be in the lineup again in the next game. And some of it may be injuries (Adam McQuaid) but it’s also that there really isn’t anyone in Providence to use in his place. The need for another defenseman is real, everyone.

Back at it Wednesday against Philly, who by  the way is only 4 points behind the B’s in the East standings.
