Bruins Making Life Tough on Themselves

Soooo…. that was a disaster. By blowing yet another two goal lead the Bruins cost themselves valuable points in the standings with an inexcusable 4-3 OT loss to the Leafs. Oh, and it was another disappointing result at home, where this team just can’t seem to get it together.

By the stat above, and figuring the ¬†seven games where they’ve blown two goals leads, the Bruins have cost themselves 7 points in the standings. Assuming the B’s had those 7 points they would be in first place in the division and 2nd in the conference. Instead they’re 7th and only a couple points from being out of the playoffs.

The need for a defenseman is critical. Kevan Miller and Zach Trotman aren’t getting it done given where they are in the lineup. They need Adam McQuaid to get healthy, if nothing for the ability to scare off the other team from taking runs at your better players.

It’s also up to management, from the coach to the GM, to put the team in the best position to make something of this year, and also have enough to build for the next few years. Brett Connolly? Benched. We’ve all seen enough nights like last night (minus-2, NO SHOTS ON NET). Replace him with Frank Vatrano, Seth Griffith, a crash test dummy, anything. There’s no D help in Providence, which is depressing. Make a deal, Donny, before it’s too late.

In other news:

  • David Pastrnak had 2 points in 11 goddamn minutes TOI, including no PP minutes. Time for the kid to get a bit more ice time.
  • Loui Eriksson has 2 goals since the start of the new year. Huge contract push by Loui. #sarcasm

Home and home with Buffalo begins tomorrow night. The B’s need all 4 points. Let’s hope they realize that.
