Bruins Overcome Officiating to Beat Habs in OT

In a very entertaining game, the Bruins overcame the officials and a late Montreal goal (naturally) to beat the Canadiens 2-1 in OT thanks to Ryan Spooner’s OT winner.

And it may sound whiny or whatever to complain about the refs, again, in Montreal. But, c’mon, you watched the game right? The “holding” call on Joe Morrow was beyond laughable, and at one point you wondered if the Bruins should just play the whole game at 5-on-4.

The game was sort of a throw back to old time hockey, with some bad blood brewing thanks to some borderline body contact. Not so surprisingly, the Canadiens didn’t like the Torey Krug hit on Andrew Shaw:

Meanwhile, the stewards of hockey were just as dirty, as evidenced by Emelin going low on Brad Marchand:

Or this:

Or this:

In short, the Canadiens, and their fans, can go fuck themselves. You’re just as dirty as any other team, you just hide behind your history/reputation better than anyone else. Any team that employs the likes of Shaw and Emelin can piss right up a rope.

OK, rant over. It really was a solid win by the Bruins given their schedule this week, with Pittsburgh Wednesday and Anaheim Thursday. A lot of us thought it was three losses this week, so now it will only be two. Just kidding, I hope.

Three Stars:

1. Tuukka Rask: Duh

2. Austin Czarnik: Goal on his birthday, yay!

3. Ryan Spooner: For the OT winner

Three Not-So-Stars:

1. Shaw: POS #1

2. Emelin: POS #2

3. Kevan Miller: Good Lord.
