Get it? See what I did there?
Anyway, the Bruins closed out a successful opening road trip with a 4-1 victory over the Jets, thanks mainly to Tuukka Rask’s 34 saves. The B’s seemed to spend the first two periods in the penalty box, and as a result never seemed to get into a rhythm until the 3rd, when coincidentally the Bruins started to get some calls of their own. Funny how that works.
Dominic Moore, David Pastrnak, Brandon Carlo and Zdeno Chara had the goals, and Carlo’s was the first of his career so props to the kid. He’s also a plus-7 so far and likely won’t be coming out of the lineup anytime soon. Well, at least he shouldn’t but sometimes you never know.
The game was marred by another hideous offside challenge that took a Bruins goal off the board in the 2nd. I mean, this is what they deemed offside:
As Mike C pointed out, the rule has become awful and should be fired to the moon ASAP. Thankfully it didn’t cost the Bruins the game, but someday it will cost a team.
1. Tuukka. Obviously.
2. Dominic Moore. Really the whole 4th line, but Moore gets the shout out for the goal.
3. Pasta. 4th goal of the year, a hell of a pace.
1. Offsides challenges, as previously discussed.
2. Jimmy Hayes. 0-0-0 and a -1. Woof.
3. David Krejci. One assist in 4 games. Not. Good. Enough.
Bruins were 0-3 after 3 games last year, 2-1 this year. Those extra 4 points might come in handy at the end of the year.
Next up, home opener Thursday vs. Jersey. Hopefully Patrice Bergeron can make his season debut.
