Bruins-Jets Preview

Game three of the season tonight in Winnipeg, as the B’s try and close out their opening three game roadie with a win.

The Bruins are coming off a lackluster 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs Saturday night, while the Jets are also off to a 1-1 start after a 4-3 loss to the Wild on Saturday.

For the Jets, former Bruin Blake Wheeler is off to a good start with 2-2-4. Stud rookie Patrik ¬†Laine is 1-1-2. Brad Marchand leads the B’s so far with 2-4-6, followed by current linemates David Pastrnak at 2–3-5 and Backes at 2-1-3.

It goes without saying, although I’m going to say it anyway, that the B’s need more from the likes of David Krejci (1 assist), Ryan Spooner (same) and Matt Beleskey (ZERO). Coach Claude Julien called out someone after the game Saturday, saying:

“We need to be a little bit more focused,” said Julien. “Sometimes as a team, but more as individuals, because it just takes one weak link to really throw everything off, so we need some guys to get better focus there and hopefully they can get better at it.”

He ain’t wrong.

As of this posting, no word yet on the goalies for tonight, although it’s fair to assume Tuukka Rask will get the nod after sitting out Saturday with “soreness.” Neither Jets goalie – Connor Hellebuyck or Michael Hutchinson – has set world on fire so far.

Also no word yet on whether Patrice Bergeron will return tonight, although if you ask me sit him out one more game and have him return on Thursday for the home opener. Need #37 at full go to have any chance this season. UPDATE:

There you go then.

Winnipeg has some talent, and that arena hasn’t exactly been welcoming to the Bruins since going back there 5 years ago. The B’s will need to be at their best to come out of tonight with the two points.

Should be a good one tonight, more updates as the day goes…
