Bruins Injury Update

As the Bruins prepare to kick off their five game home stand, here’s a quick update on the B’s injury situation, and what they should be doing as a result:
Chris Kelly:  Chris Kelly’s injury sucks.  It sucks to see a non contact injury result in a broken freaking leg, it sucks that he was playing very well so far this season, given what he’s been asked to do, but as Mike mentioned it isn’t the end of the world.  The Kelly was overpaid chorus has long said that while Kelly does the little things, there are other players to be had who can give you the same production  at a lower cost.  Here’s to hoping we were right.
What B’s Should Do:  Roll with Kemppainen and Randell as they have been, without being afraid to spot someone else in Rinaldo’s place on the left side when warranted.  Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Max Talbot is long for Boston.
David Pastrnak:  Weird situation, Kirk Leudeke first reported a broken foot the day after Pastrnak was hit in the foot with a shot in the offensive zone.  Leudeke then corrected himself, saying he had heard “fractured” foot was the injury.  Then the team came out with “bone bruise”, so there was some optimism even though 88 was missing some games.  After their  road trip, it was announced that Pastrnak is dealing with a non-displaced fracture in his foot and will be without a time table for return.  Swell.
What B’s Should Do:  Exactly what they are doing.  They originally brought up Khoklachev, didn’t like what they saw, sent him down (where he himself got injured), and are using Frank Vatrano instead.  Vatrano has been impressive, and doesn’t look out of place playing with top talent.  Roll with him up front.
Torey Krug:  Not really sure what his deal is, but he’s got two maintenance days in a row and is a game time decision tonight. This isn’t a longer term situation, we’re pretty sure.
Dennis Seidenberg:  It looks like he’s going to get his first game tonight.  If Krug can’t go, we’ll have to wait and see how the entire D corps is affected but put me firmly in the “this is great news” category.
What B’s Should Do:  Let me go on record to say that if Colin Miller sits, I’m going to lose my shit.  Kevan Miller is the obvious choice to spend some time on the 9th floor.  The new look D w/a healthy Seidenberg and Krug:
Chara-C. Miller
McQuiad-Morrow/Trotman/K. Miller
Bruins will take on Colorado tonight at the Garden, hopefully they’ll handle the shakeups (injuries coupled with line changes) and earn 2 points.
