BREAKING: Chara has Ankle Fracture

See what I did there, in the headline? Anyway, news broke (I did it again) today that Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara will miss the World Championships due to an ankle fracture.

Oh, just that.

It doesn’t sound like that serious an injury, with an expected recovery time of 2-4 weeks. But it’s a good thing the Bruins didn’t make the playoffs, as a wounded Chara would have been no match for the speed of the Rangers.

Chara first hurt himself blocking a shot against Toronto on April 4.

Chara also missed time earlier in the season with a torn PCL, and also suffered injured in the last two postseasons. Last year he had a finger hurt due to a slash against Montreal, and two years ago battled a hip injury that hampered him in particular against the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals.
